To significantly reduce maternal and child mortality rates and promote overall community health, Fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) have recommissioned the Isheri Primary Healthcare Centre as part of their CAPSTONE project,  focusing on improving healthcare systems.

The three-day event commenced with a sensitisation walk, inviting residents of Isheri to a medical outreach that offered free health services, including tests for Malaria, Hepatitis, blood sugar, BMI, HIV, and PCV, as well as free medications.

The Medical Outreach was a collaborative effort with the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), AfriHealth, and the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA).

Held at the newly renovated health center, the event provided over 500 residents with various medical tests and medications, supported by an on-site ambulance and health insurance packages from LASHMA.

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) also participated, offering counselling and education on domestic violence to address both health and social issues.

During the official recommissioning ceremony, the Lagos State Head of Service (HOS), Mr. Bode Agoro, delivered a keynote address emphasising the project’s significance in providing immediate and effective care to the Isheri community.

The CAPSTONE Team Impact Project Lead, Dr. Michael Ogunkoya, highlighted the importance of rehabilitating the healthcare center as a means of building a Healthy, productive and progressive society.

“We have rehabilitated the structure,

The event concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and a tour of the facility by the HOS, various Heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, Executive Secretary of LJLA, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, Executive Chairman of Ikosi Isheri LCDA, Princess Abolanle Bada, and other dignitaries.
