In a bid to significantly enhance legal literacy, the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy(LJLA) Fellows have launched the “EKO Laws Simplifier App” which aims to make legal information more accessible to Lagos residents.
Usman Adeniji, Team Ace Project Lead, unveiled the app at a press briefing held at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa, where He described the app as part of the fellows’ CAPSTONE project, designed to empower residents by providing easy access to legal information.
“According to the Ministry of Justice, 70% of Lagos residents encountered legal issues in 2021, yet only 30% had access to legal information, thereby informing the urgent need for the Eko Laws app in a city of 26 million people” He stated
The app, available at www.ekolaws.com, features a user-friendly interface, a comprehensive legal database, advanced search and filter options, and educational resources.
The launch event was attended by the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, her counterpart in the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr. Ope George, among other dignitaries.
As part of their outreach, the Eko Laws team visited State Senior High School Alimosho and Alimosho Senior Grammar School to educate students on legal literacy.
Adeniji reaffirmed his team’s dedication to reaching every corner of Lagos and encouraged public support for the initiative.
Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, LJLA Executive Secretary, expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Law Reform Commission for their support, while noting that the app simplifies legal resource access, promotes law compliance, and empowers residents to handle legal matters with confidence.

The launch of the Eko Laws simplified App is a welcomed development at a very critical time when the present economic climate, population, transport concerns as made access to legal services expensive,far in-between.The app brings legal information with in reach into our various homes & literally on the palms of our hand.You fellows have started on the right path by creating awareness with the youths of Alimosho L.G.A.(incidentally the largest & most populous in Lagos).From here I believe you’ll move to other parts with your advocacy in tune with the digital times.Knowledge/information put to proper use is power/empowers us all.
