The 2024/2025 Cohort of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) have officially commenced their Ministerial Placements, a key component of the Academy’s leadership programme that offers them a unique opportunity to gain practical experience by working under the direct mentorship of senior government officials in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across various sectors of the Lagos State Government.

Designed to deepen their understanding of public administration, policy implementation, and leadership, the MDA rotation aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to sustainable development. Through this initiative, Fellows are exposed to real-world governance challenges and strategies, equipping them with the tools to make meaningful contributions to the state’s future.

In line with the Academy’s mission to groom future leaders with a deep understanding of governance, Lagos State’s Head of Service, during the official meeting with the Fellows, encouraged them to maximise the experience. “This is an opportunity to enhance not just your professional skills, but to build the leadership qualities that will prepare you for greater responsibilities in the future” he stated, emphasising the importance of active engagement and learning during the rotations.

Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, Executive Secretary of LJLA, expressed her gratitude to the Head of Service for his unwavering support of the Academy’s objectives. She urged the Fellows to make the most of this unique learning opportunity.

“This is a rare opportunity to learn from the very best in public service. I encourage you to remain curious and proactive as you navigate your rotations. The relationships you build and the knowledge you acquire during this period will serve you well throughout your Leadership Journey” Agbaje-Okunade remarked.

Abdulbaki Ahmed, one of the Fellows, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity. “I am grateful for this platform and the exposure it provides. I pledge to uphold the values of excellence, discipline, and service throughout my fellowship” he stated.

The MDA rotation serves as a critical aspect of the Fellows’ development, fostering both professional and personal growth as they prepare to take on leadership roles in public service.
