In a significant step marking the beginning of their transformative journey, the newly inducted fellows of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) were formally welcomed by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, during an official meeting held at the Public Service Office, Alausa.

Mr. Agoro, in his address, lauded the fellows for their selection into the notable programme, describing it as a unique opportunity to be mentored by experienced public servants across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

He emphasised the critical values that the fellows must embody during their time in the Academy, focusing on patience, hard work, and respect for the Executive Council (Exco) members and accounting officers they will shadow during their MDA rotations.

“Your time in the Academy is a vital learning phase where You will be exposed to the practical workings of government, gaining invaluable insights into the policy-making process, project execution, and service delivery. It is essential that you demonstrate patience in navigating the complexities of governance, show diligence in your duties, and respect the leaders and officers you will learn from” Agoro stated.

The MDA rotation, a key component of the LJLA programme, offers Fellows hands-on experience by placing them under the direct mentorship of senior government officials across diverse sectors.

This exposure is designed to deepen their understanding of public administration, policy implementation, and leadership in the context of Lagos State’s drive towards sustainable development.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary of LJLA, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, commended the Head of Service for his continued support of the Academy’s objectives and urged the fellows to make the most of this rare opportunity.

“This is a rare opportunity to learn from the very best in public service. I encourage you to remain curious and proactive as you navigate your rotations. The relationships you build and the knowledge you acquire during this period will serve you well throughout your career” Agbaje-Okunade remarked.

Abdulbaki Ahmed, a Fellow, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and pledged to uphold the values of excellence, discipline, and service throughout the fellowship.
